Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is located on the first floor of the Kitchin Building. During the fall and spring semesters, the LRC is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Fridays. Operating hours vary during the summer and are posted at the LRC's website. LRC staff are eager to provide research and password assistance, and instruction.

Digital Resources

Available on the LRC’s webpage is the library catalog, a 24/7 "Ask Librarian" chat box for reference or general questions, and a LRC Services Scheduler for reserving quiet study or collaborative spaces. Additionally, LibGuides are available which provide access to databases, research resources, citation assistance, and subject guides for courses.

Resources

Housed within the LRC are computers, access to printing, open study or lounge areas, group study rooms, private testing rooms, and a multipurpose space which can be used for club meetings, small campus events, and more. To reserve a space please use the LRC Study Room Scheduler available on the LRC's website. The LRC houses materials for students to check-out with a valid SCC Student ID card including laptops, WIFI hotspots, calculators, books, and DVDs. Students and staff also have access to outside materials through interlibrary loan. Students with outstanding library materials will not be allowed to register for the next semester or obtain transcripts until all materials are returned.

Password Resets

Passwords can be reset in the (LRC) with the help of the LRC Navigator. Additionally, there is an online reset portal on the College’s website under Password Reset.

Tutoring

Professional and peer tutoring services are available to all students at no charge. Tutoring can be scheduled through the online platform, UPSWING, located on the College’s website under Tutoring Services. For Drop-In tutoring, students can view the Face-to-Face Supplemental Instruction schedule, also located on the Tutoring Services webpage.  In addition, students can seek help from the LRC Navigator.

Testing Center

The Testing Center is located on the first floor of the Kitchin Building. The Testing Center strives to provide accessible and quality testing services to current students, prospective students, and the community. The Testing Center administers various assessment and certification exams, as well as national standardized examinations. Please consult the Testing webpage for a list of exams offered and how to register.
