NC Boost Program
The NC Boost Program is a statewide initiative designed to support student success, accelerate credential completion, and strengthen North Carolina's workforce. Through a partnership between the state of North Carolina, the North Carolina Community College System, and participating colleges, NC Boost provides structured academic, financial, and personal support to eligible students enrolled in designated programs of study.
NC Boost supports student progression into high-demand, high-wage career fields aligned with the state's workforce priorities, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, engineering, and information technology. The program provides an accelerated pathway to degree completion with comprehensive support services that may include academic advising, career coaching, and financial assistance for tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses.
Participation in NC Boost is limited to students who meet program eligibility requirements. In general, students must:
- Be eligible for in-state tuition
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Enroll in an approved curriculum program aligned with workforce priorities
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and qualify for applicable financial aid programs
- Commit to full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress
NC Boost is based on an evidence-based model adapted from the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) developed by the City University of New York, which has demonstrated improved rates of student retention, progression, and completion.
Enrollment in NC Boost may be limited and is subject to availability of funding and institutional capacity. Students are encouraged to contact the Admissions or Advising Office for additional information regarding eligibility and participation.
